[ Ring, ring, ring. Dial tone, of course. Thomas gives a shaky exhale, silence on his end for awhile before he lets out a humorless, self-loathing laugh. ]
I -- I knew you wouldn't pick up, I knew that, of course I knew that, I knew that. I'm, I know you probably won't ever get this, sorry if you do, you can just ignore it -- I'm really sorry, real, real sorry. Minho's dead, did you know? I don't know if you did. He's dead and -- and you're dead, and it's all my fault, Newt, all my fault. I -- how can I keep doing this to the, the people that I love? You're gone and Minho's gone and I'm -- I'm scared, Newt, I've never been this scared in my whole entire life, not when I woke up in the Glade or anything. I don't even know where Teresa is, she might be dead too. What should I do? What is there to do?
[ It's all said out in one heavy breath, but Thomas finally pauses and breathes for a second, rocking back and forth from where he's curled up on the floor, shaky breaths, shaky voice. ]

[ the celluar service in the tower is a load of klunk. it takes newt four tries to try and send a message back, to try and even listen to thomas's, and when he finally does, it breaks his heart. all of it--the panic in thomas's voice, the way he talks about minho, the fact that newt had to do this to him in the first place.
he can't connect to thomas's line straight out, but the voicemail comes through, and newt's voice appears, broken at first by static, but there. ] --mmy, it's Newt, I'm here. Woke up in some bloody tower, but I'm here, and Minho's with me, we're fine. We're okay.
[ unfortunately, a tiny voice says in the back of his head, but he shoves it down. he should have known better, and he didn't; the best he can do is lift his head and keep going, do it for minho and do it for thomas and even for teresa. Yeah, I did. [ newt sounds a little relieved, too--he was worried about nico, after everything that happened in the bunker. and with the weight in his voice, he can only think that all of his assumptions about bianca di angelo might have been right.

Yeah. [ though newt tries to tamp down on it, there's an obvious, affectionate warmth in his tone, for the person who's appeared. he's not really sure how he can describe alby to anyone who's never met him, who doesn't know him and alby as a dynamic pair, so he just smiles a little crookedly into his phone when he talks and tries to find a good way to explain it. ] Someone I'm real close to.
It's not really that weird--like I told ya before, we did somethin like this real similar a long time ago. The more Gladers that show up, the less I'm surprised 'bout it. [ but, he hadn't really hoped in his wildest dreams that this was what would happen, who would come. ] We're all headin' back to the Homestead right now.

Anytime. [ really, he means it; if bianca is important to nico, then she's important to newt. period. he's kind of become attached to the skinny kid in the skull t-shirt--it's more than just like one of his gladers, now. nico reminds newt of himself, in the end, and that's terrifying.

[ Nico hadn't really thought about the fact that things might calm down now after everything. dying, being alive again, the tower, waking up in the fields. Jason had gone missing and then it turned out he'd been with Bianca, who was alive again.
